If you’re looking for ways to treat your tooth sensitivity, you’re not alone. Many people do the same because they find tooth sensitivity to be painful, annoying, and inconvenient. Our dentist, Dr. Kaitilin Riley, doesn’t blame you! Fortunately, there are things you can do to relieve your tooth sensitivity. However, certain treatments only work with certain causes of the sensitivity, so please keep that in mind. It’s best to try to relieve your sensitivity by doing the following things:

-Strengthen your tooth enamel (Fluoride can do that for you, so make sure to use fluoridated oral hygiene tools and receive a professional fluoride treatment regularly.)

-Keep up on oral hygiene (It’s important to brush twice a day, floss daily, rinse daily and visit your dentist every six months.)

-Talk to your dentist about a mouthguard (A mouthguard can protect your teeth if your sensitivity is caused by chronic teeth grinding.)

-Skip the whitening treatment (Some whitening treatments tend to cause or increase sensitivity, so it’s best to stay away from them for the time being.)

-Use desensitizing toothpaste (Desensitizing toothpaste is meant to block the channels in the teeth that lead to the tooth nerves.)

-Schedule an appointment with your dentist (If these treatments don’t help with your sensitivity, it’s best to identify the cause and treat it as soon as possible.)
